How Your Mother Met Me
It has now been a good 7 hours since I watched this episode, and I am still all little schoolgirl giddy on the inside. Really though. This is the best episode of HIMYM I have seen in a LONG time. It was the perfect combination of funny, sweet, charming, and sad. After torturing us for 15 episodes, we finally got to see The Mother for more than just a blip! I must admit that I was skepty about this chick for awhile since I ship Ted and Robyn so much, but this episode solidified my love for her. She's fantastic. I would probably marry her (don't tell my boyfriend).
I think the main thing about this episode that a lot of viewers probably weren't expecting is that it was actually pretty sad. We learned in this episode that The Mother was in love before, and her lover died. That's pretty heavy stuff, especially for a sitcom. However, I think that this little tidbit of info is a blatant foreshadowing. If you like spoilers as much as I do, then you've probably read the theories on the internet that the mother is actually dead, and that is why Ted has decided to tell his kids the story of how they met. I have held true to this theory for quite some time now, and there is quite a bit of evidence to support that. For one, she doesn't pipe in or show up at any point while Ted is telling the story. Don't you think she would want to be there and share her point of view? Secondly, the entire series points towards Ted ending up with Robin. Their relationship has been the main focus of basically the entire series (minus this season). To randomly have him end up with someone else doesn't make a whole lot of sense (even though the show is called How I Met Your Mother, and it's pretty obvious that Robin isn't the mother). Thirdly, there is that episode from last season where Ted runs to The Mother's door and gives his heart-wrenching speech about how he will meet her in 45 days and he wants those extra 45 days with her and he'll love her forever. That doesn't exactly sound like a speech you give to someone who's still around. And lastly, one of the writers said in an interview that by the end of the series we will find out that there is a specific reason Ted decided to tell his children this story at this particular point in time. What other reason could there possibly be?
A couple other interesting theories I have come across has to do with Barney. It's a bit of a stretch, but kind of fun to think about nonetheless. Basically the theory is that Barney and Ted are actually each other in the story. In other words, Ted essentially took all of Barney's qualities and used them to describe himself and used his qualities to describe Barney, so as to look better in front of his children. This theory does operate on the fact that The Mother got pregnant and that's why her and Ted got married, which I'm not sure is the case. It is a bit of a time crunch, but I think they got married first. If they didn't though, Ted would be the guy who dated a new girl every episode and married a girl he knocked up, and Barney would be the one who ended up with the "dream girl" of the show whom he was in love with. Like I said, it's a bit of a stretch, but a fun idea to play with. You can read the entire article here: http://www.reddit.com/r/FanTheories/comments/1mmsa3/how_i_met_your_mother_the_mother_is_dead_and_ted/
Conspiracy theories aside, this was a great episode. I loved seeing all the flashbacks of their little run-ins over the years and of course Rachel Bilson :) Until next time, my fellow TV freaks!

The Bachelor: Week 4
The Honeymoon Is Over
So let me just start off by saying that I am so excited to be back and even more excited that I am starting off with The Bachelor! I am a newbie to The Bachelor world, and let's just say my obsession is starting out strong. I watched The Bachelorette last season for the first time and fell in love with it, and this is my first time watching The Bachelor! Now down to business...
I think it's safe to say that we have officially reached the point in the season where people's crazy is starting to show. I remember the first episode thinking how I liked almost all the girls and he had so many good ones to choose from. Oh, the good old days. I can safely say that the only two people I didn't want to punch during this episode were Renee and Andi. Because let's face it, those two haven't taken a wrong step yet. They are by far my favorites, I adore them both. But as for the rest of them...I don't even know where to begin.
I guess we'll start with Nikki since she was the most atrocious in this episode. She was honestly my favorite from the first few episodes. Being a nursing student myself, I had a soft spot for her and I thought she was sweet and smart. What happened?? She was talking smack on everyone the entire episode and then she apparently she decided she was in a horror film and started lurking in the shadows while Claire and Juan Pablo were having their one-on-one time. So creepy! I'm not sure what her deal is, but hopefully she snaps out of it (although I'm not holding my breath for that).
On that note, let's talk about Claire. Another one of my early favorites who seems to be hopping on the crazy train. While she was nowhere near as bad as Nikki, she was being a bit of an attention whore. While this is annoying, at least she is putting herself out there and getting noticed by Juan Pablo. That's more than I can say for Alli and Danielle, who I don't think we've seen have more than one conversation each with Juan Pablo. (Also, I just have to mention the best comment of the night, which was directed at Claire: "Come on, I know you've swallowed bigger things than that." I died).
Then we have Sharleen. She is one I have disliked from the beginning (who says "sure" to a first impression rose? Really? Step up your acting skills, girl) and she just gets worse and worse as the weeks go by. Besides the fact that she is possibly the most awkward kisser ever, she is just a snob. My operating system has more emotion and personality than her. I believe at some point in the episode she said something to the effect of "you're not dull." Is that supposed to be a compliment? I'm confused. What's even more confusing is that he gave her the date rose even after she basically admitted to him that she doesn't want kids. WHAT IS WRONG WITH HIM? This infuriates me.
Juan Pablo was overall infuriating in this episode. Telling the girls that you aren't going to kiss anybody that night because of your daughter (who really shouldn't be watching the show since she's four) is just a cop out. Which is especially obvious when you start making out with Claire when nobody can see you. Be a man and just admit that you don't want to kiss some of them. And why would you randomly draw the line at 6 girls? Are you not going to kiss any of the other five girls at any point during the show? If so, you might as well send them home right now since you can't fall in love with someone without kissing them (poor Lauren.....I just wanted to sing "Kiss The Girl" the entire time I was watching her get rejected). Stupid Juan Pablo.
Here's to hoping that next week is less infuriating.
The Bachelor "Week 6"
Finally Tierra is gone! Thought it might never happen, but Sean got some sense and sent her on her way. Something that has puzzled me with Sean and Tierra, is that she hasn't necessarily been the front runner, sure Sean likes her and gave her the first impression rose, but she hadn't even had a one on one date until this week. And Sean heard from every girl he asked that Tierra was Tierrable and even saw a lot of her craziness first hand, yet he kept her around. In comparison to Ben and Courtney, Ben never saw Courtney acting crazy, she was confident and fun around him and she was the clear front runner. So it made sense why he would be deceived. But either way I'm glad Sean isn't going to end up with Tierra and I'm ready for the show to be about something other than Tierrarism.
Tierra, Lesley and Ashley got one on one dates this week, and Catherine, Lindsey and Desiree went on group date. Seems like he gave one on ones to the girls he isn't as sure about. I won't get into all of the details, but I will say that I felt bad for Lesley. I really liked her, and I could tell she really wanted things to work with Sean, but it was so forced and awkward. Lindsey got the rose on the group date.
Sean's sister came to visit and talk some sense into him about Tierra. Sean wanted to have Tierra meet his sister, but when he went to get Tierra he walked into turmoil. Ashlee and Tierra had just gotten into a fight. Tierra doesn't ever have a reasonable argument in these situations, despite how smart she always says she is. She just went off about how big her heart is, how she can't control her facial expressions because she hasn't had Botox, and how no one can take away her sparkle! Ok then... At least that part was funny. So after her final meltdown Sean told her it would be best for her to go home. Hallelujah!
At the rose ceremony I thought Ashlee might go home after "throwing Tierra under the bus", but Leslie was the one to go. She was sad, but oddly, Catherine seemed more upset that Lesley did. She said that if Sean doesn't want to be with Lesley, who he has the most in common with, then she questions everything. Weird. Does that mean that Catherine doesn't feel that Sean is the right fit for her? I hope not, she is my favorite. But really I like everyone that is left. I predict that Ashlee will be the next to go.

The Bachelor "Week 5, Part 2"
Part 2 was even better that part 1. Can Tierra please go home already though? Usually when there is a contestant I hate like Bentley or Courtney at least I can laugh at the ridiculousness and drama, but Tierra just frustrates me. I am no longer entertained, it's time for her to stop getting roses!
The first date was a one on one with Catherine. It was about time Sean got to spend sometime with her. I really like Catherine, but I keep thinking she will go home because she hasn't had a lot of screen time. Their date looked pretty miserable, it was freezing and windy. Sean's hair was completely turned to ice and their faces were bright red and frozen. But they did get to hang out in a pretty awesome ice castle so I guess that part of the date was good. She opened up to him about her childhood and got a rose.
The group date included Ashlee, Tierra, Lesley, Lindsey, Selma, Daniella and Sarah. They did what is called the "polar bear plunge". They jumped into freezing cold water and most of the girls had fun with it, Tierra however, used this as another opportunity to fake an injury. Interesting that they all did the same thing and everyone was just fine except for her. She said she had hypothermia and played the part well. Only flaw was that Sean told her to stay home and rest and not come to the party.... Well that didn't really help her get the quality time with Sean she was looking for, so she got ready and showed up to the party miraculously cured and wearing heels on her frostbitten toes. Ugh! Can Sean not see through her yet?
At the party that evening Sarah showed Sean some pictures of her growing up and said she would love for him to meet her family. Sean wasn't feeling it and rather that keep her around until the ring ceremony he sent her home. I felt really bad for Sarah when she said that his reason for breaking things off is the same reason she is always given, that she is a great girl but there wasn't a connection.
Lesley received the rose tonight, which shocked Tierra! Lesley deserved it though, she had a great attitude all day and stood out during the date, without being crazy or including any paramedics. BTW below is a picture of the lovely Tierra:
The last date was with Desiree, her second one on one date. Tierra and Daniella still haven't gotten a one on one. Hopefully that means we won't be seeing much more of them. Des and Sean repelled down a 400 ft mountain, had a picnic, did some tree climbing and then sat in a tepee and talked. It was a much better interaction than what the two of them had the previous episode, but maybe not as good as the first date. I still like Des, but some of the other girls are catching up to her in my opinion. She did get a rose, so she was safe at the rose ceremony.
At the rose ceremony Selma and Daniella went home. That was expected I think. Selma finally kissed him and still went packing, hopefully her mom will forgive her. Next week the six remaining girls and Sean will travel to St. Croix. I am guessing that Lesley and Ashlee will be the next to go.

The Bachelor "Week 5, Part 1"
This week we get not one, but two episodes of The Bachelor! In part one of this week's Bachelor event, Sean and the girls went to Montana. Sean took Lindsey on a one on one, Tierra and Jackie on a two on one date and the rest of the girls on a group date.
Sean and Lindsey took a helicopter ride to a picnic. And then to a Sarah Darling concert in downtown Whitefish They stood on this platform above the rest of the crowd and danced. Is it just me or is that a little weird? I'm still surprised that she is sticking around after that first impression, but she seems like a sweet girl. Lindsey left with a rose.
I don't know who is in charge of the group dates this season, but they aren't great. The girls were divided into two teams and had to compete in a "Montana wilderness relay", which included milking a goat and drinking the milk.Disgusting! The winning team wins more time with Sean and the losers go back to the hotel. I thought for sure that the blue team was going to win, but they somehow lost it.
Sean decided that his relay race wasn't the way to find his wife and invited the blue team back. There must be someone in that group he has his eye on, could be Ashlee, Catherine, Lesley or Daniella. The red team wasn't thrilled about this especially when a blue team member snatched up the rose. Daniella saw Catherine sitting on Sean's lap and started crying and he comforted her by giving her the rose. Sean really likes being the savior, must be why Tierra is still around.
None of the girls wanted the two on one date, obviously. But when Tierra found out she was going she said she was excited and argued that it was a good thing. But, when the blue team was invited back on their date Tierra's other personality appeared and she just had to go see Sean. I guess that was her strategy to win the rose, and I'm sad to say it worked. Jackie made the mistake of discussing Tierra with Sean, and she was sent packing. I don't think she really stood a chance anyways, but bringing up the other girls is NEVER a good idea.
At the rose ceremony Robyn and Catherine confronted Tierra bout how she ignores the other girls until the cameras or Sean are around and then all of the sudden she wants to be friendly. She got very defensive and didn't really have a response. Sean did walk by at one point and saw a little of Tierra's freak out and it caused him to really question things. He started asking the girls and none of them wanted to get into the specifics and so he said he didn't know what to think. Maybe he should go back and watch Ben's season and see if he thinks the girls had reason to not like Courtney or if they were just jealous of her. Anyhow, Tierra, Lindsey and Daniella were safe this week and Robyn went home. I think she would have likely gone home anyways but him seeing her argue with Tierra didn't help her any. I'll be back tomorrow to recap the next episode, I am guessing that Daniella and Selma will be leaving us...

How I Met Your Mother "P.S. I Love You"
This week's episode of HIMYM was chuck full of pop culture references, which made the pop culture junkie inside of my extremely giddy.
First and foremost the title itself is a reference to the romantic comedy starring Hilary Swank and Gerard Butler. Then there was a reference to another rom-com, The Holiday. When Ted is talking about how he met the girl on the train, he says it's a meet cute, something that is talked about a lot in The Holiday.
Then a reference to Harry Potter. When Barney is sitting in Robin's room reading her journals, he says that it is ridiculous, except he says it "riddikulus" like the well-know boggart-repelling spell in Harry Potter.
The next one is a bit of a stretch, but there always has to be a subtle Friends reference in HIMYM. In this episode, it comes when Ted is talking to Jeanette in a British accent and says "it's hard to stop." Phoebe does the exact same thing in Friends with her Posh accent when she's meeting Mike's parents.
And of course there's the main reference that runs through the entire show: the Dobler versus Dahmer theory. This references John Cusack's character Lloyd Dobler from Say Anything and famous serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer to compare crazy romantics to just plain crazies.
And I saved my very favorite for last :) my latest Netflix obsession has been Dawson's Creek and there were not one, but TWO DC references in this episode! First we had Dawson himself (James Van Der Beek) guest starring in the episode as Robin's ex-boyfriend Simon. Then when they showed a list of who could possibly be Robin's old stalkee, Joshua Jackson was on the list! It was just too great.
Besides the plethora of pop culture references, there was one other great thing that happened this week. At the end of the episode, Ted says that before you meet the person you're going to marry, you make one last mistake and that mistake for him was Jeanette. That means that the next woman he dates should be the mother! It's getting so close, I can't wait!

The Bachelor "Week 4"
Another great week on The Bachelor. I am finally starting to like more of the girls, I think Sean is making some good choices and has some great options. I think Sean is the best Bachelor yet. I may eat my words if he chooses Tierra in the end, but for right now, I like him.
The first date was with Selma, they took a private jet to Joshua Tree and did some rock climbing. I was actually really impressed with how well she did. She doesn't look like an adventurous, outdoorsy girl but she rocked that climb. Afterward Sean wanted to kiss her but she told him that because of her strict Arabic family and their beliefs she isn't going to kiss him on TV until she is the only one left. I don't know how well that's going to work out for her.... But for now she is safe and left the date with a rose.
The group date was with Tierra, Amanda, Sarah, Robyn, Lindsay, Jackie, Catherine, and Ashlee. The plan was for the girls to split into two teams and compete in a roller derby. This is possibly the worst date idea I have ever seen on this show. I am all for the adventurous and nerve- racking dates but this just seemed really dangerous and not at all fun. Amanda fell on her jaw and had to go to the hospital and she was probably the only one who looked like she might know how to roller skate. The rest of the girls made me almost too nervous to watch. Sarah was really scared, and rightly so. Sean decided to scrap the competition and just have a free skate. Good idea.
Afterwards they all got their one on one time with Sean, and Tierra caused some DRAMA! She got upset that she didn't feel included with the other girls and interrupted Sean and Lindsay to say she can't take the "torture" anymore. I had my fingers crossed that she was going to go home, but Sean talked her into staying and gave her the rose. Also, Amanda returned and seemed to be recovering just fine. She even admitted that she was going to use her fall to her advantage and milk it for all it's worth.
The last one on one was with Leslie. It was a Pretty Woman themed date. He gave her earrings, took her shopping on Rodeo Drive and took her to Neil Lane to complete her outfit with a very pricey necklace. At dinner Sean asked her lots of questions and they seemed to have lots in common, but Sean wasn't feelin' it so he sent her home. I really respect the bachelors and bachelorettes when they have the guts to send people home like that. They weren't a match so I'm glad he cut her loose before she got more attatched.
At the rose ceremony Sean sent Amanda home! Thank goodness! I guess her strategy of milking her injury didn't pay off this week. Let''s face it, she was out of her mind. If Sean can see that, I'm hopeful Tierra won't fool him much longer. I still like Desiree, Sarah and Lesley but there are a couple others I am interested to see more of like Catherine, Selma and Lindsay. There is still a ways to go in this Bachelor journey, including two episodes next week! I predict that Daniella and Jackie will be the next to go. What are your predictions?

The Following "Pilot"
I don't want to do a re-cap of this episode because I don't want to spoil it. I just want to say that I think everyone should watch this show, and not just because I am a biased Kevin Williamson fan, but because it is great TV. What I love about it is that it's so original. It's not not CSI, it's not Castle. It's a serial drama. It's the kind of thing that you usually only see in the movies, but now we get to enjoy this deliciously creepy thriller from the comfort of our own homes (I am also partial to TV over movies if you didn't already get that). There were definitely some shocking and quite honestly, disgusting scenes in this first episode. But if I can handle it, you can handle it.
The idea of focusing on one serial killer is one that obviously can't go on forever. But the idea that he has this whole cult following is fascinating and sets the story up for endless possibilities. Watch this pilot episode and next week we can get into all the spoilery plot details.

The Carrie Diaries "Lie With Me"
So I don't feel like this episode was as compelling as the pilot. Don't get me wrong, I still enjoyed it but it didn't have the umph that the first one did. Maybe it was just the anticipation and excitement of the first episode that made the pilot better, not quite sure. I loved the music, the clothes, the hair, the whole 80's atmosphere and the excitement of her getting to the city. This week she was mostly at school or cooped up at home or at her internship. I guess that's what being grounded is all about. No surprise I find it a little boring.
Carrie does meet up with Sebastian at the pool, but gets busted when Dorrit tattles on her to their dad. Side note: who names their daughter Dorrit? That is possibly the most unfortunate name I have ever heard. Carrie doesn't receive further punishment for her transgression, however her dad doesn't want her seeing Sebastian. I have a feeling Carrie is going to have a hard time following that rule. Sebastian seems like a pretty good guy, he didn't give in to Donna who was throwing herself all over him. And he seems to genuinely like Carrie. What does Mr. Bradshaw know about Sebastian that makes him want to keep Carrie away from him?
The situation between Maggie and Walt is heartbreaking. I feel terrible for him, and for her. I am looking forward to seeing how this story develops, particularly with Walt. I can imagine how hard it would be to come out as an adolescent and this is the 80's, before Glee and Ellen. I think this will be a great story.
One last thing, I love that Carrie used fashion to get on her boss's good side. I just love these little glimpses of how this Carrie becomes the HBO Carrie that we all know and love. She is smart, crafty and of course a fashionista!

90210 "Misery Loves Company"
Ok so I am just now realizing that Dixon's new love interest Megan is Melissa from The Secret Circle! I guess the last episode I watched with her was before I began The Secret Circle on Netflix. I love seeing people from my other shows and it makes me like her even more! The fact that I am not a huge Adriana fan doesn't hurt my Megan/Dixon hopes either. I think Adriana and Dixon just need to MOVE ON! It was weird from the beginning and not it's just stupid.
So what is the deal with the freaky cop girl that had Liam all tied up? I mean yeah, he is obviously hot enough that you would want a life-size cardboard cut out of him, but the tattoo is creepy! And you know you're crazy when you make Vanessa look sane and even likable. I am not sure what to think of Annie and Vanessa teaming up together! Am I supposed to trust Vanessa now? And Annie gets shot trying to save Liam?! Can those two just be together already? They're the best couple on this entire show (not that there's a lot of competition, but still).
Poor Naomi, I want her and Max to be happy and together again. I really liked the scene with Naomi and her mom. I hope she will realize that her and Max have a marriage worth fighting for and put on that gorgeous family heirloom!
Um...Dixon, not a good idea to tell a woman she isn't ready to be a mom. Silver needed some guidance and now she has lost her mind! I don't understand why Silver doesn't just find another donor. Did she stop taking her medication?
So next week is going to be some weird Wizard of Oz episode. I really am not a fan of these weird themed episodes, but for some reason people keep making them. I just want to see what happens to Annie! Ugh, I guess I'll just have to suck it up and wait until we're out of Oz and back in Beverly Hills.

The Bachelor "Week 3"
First off, is it terrible for me to say that I was a little disappointed that Tierra just fell down the stairs? I was hoping for some big drama where she is fighting with one of the girls and gets pushed down. But in all honesty, they really made it seem like that was a much bigger deal. Little Miss Priss lost beach volleyball and engineered a way to get some extra alone time with Sean. I don't if "falling" down the stairs and then refusing medical attention is the best way to win a guy over, then again what do I know? I've never tried it.
The first date this week was with Lesley. They set the world record for "Longest On-Screen Kiss". I really like this girl and I think they are cute together, but I will say the same thing as I did last week... So awkward! I think it's sweet that she gets nervous around him but sometimes it's a little hard to watch.
The group date was a beach volleyball game in which the winning team gets to continue the date with Sean and the losing team goes back to the house. Not surprisingly, these girls can not play volleyball! It was not pretty! But somehow one of the teams did finally win. This was very similar to the baseball game that they played on Ben's season. It's amazing how upset these girls get when they lose. It's just a game! In the second part of the date Lindsay wowed Sean once again and received the rose, which was a smart move on his part. He needed to stay away from the Amanda/Desiree/Kacie drama. BTW, Kacie have you not ever watched the show? I know you've been on it, but your strategy is lacking. When you warn the bachelor about other girls they don't like it and you usually get sent home. I'm so glad he called her out on it. She was acting crazy and it made no sense why she was even talking about them. It had absolutely nothing to do with her! Oh well, she learned her lesson now.
The last one on on was with Ashlee. I'm not sure how I feel about her. She is sweet, and Sean is right she is very optimistic about life considering all she has been through, but she's not my favorite. Maybe it's the fact that she is a professional organizer, she just seems like she could be a bit of a control freak/high maintenance.
Going into the rose ceremony Lesley, Lindsay and Ashlee had roses. Sean sent Kacie home before he started handing out roses. And when it was over Kristy and Taryn were left rose-less. Other than keeping Tierra around I think Sean made great decisions tonight and I can't wait for next week!

How I Met Your Mother: "Ring Up"
As always, I loved this week's episode of HIMYM. I knew that watching Barney and Robin deal with being engaged would be a really fun thing to see on the show, and this week's episode did not disappoint me in that. I still have some worries that the wedding might not work out, but this week helped to put some of those fears to rest. Despite that fact that Robin isn't getting free stuff anymore because she has a ring on it, and Barney has had to break up with one-night stands, they were both able to see that they don't actually want those things anymore, they want each other. And I loved that.
And of course there always has to be some little twist in the show :) I loved that Ted's one night stand ended up being Barney's half-sister. This was a great way to push Barney into his realization that he's over one-night stands, and I always love getting a glimpse of his family life since it's been so rare in the series.
Also, I don't know if anybody else has noticed, but this is the second week in a row that the show has had a Harry Potter reference. As I hardcore Potter fan, this just makes me love the show even more.

2 Broke Girls "And the Bear Truth"
Max, Caroline and Andy share an awkward weekend together in a cabin in the woods when they win "Hann's Big Promo". Caroline tells Andy about their prize and he misunderstands, thinking that she is taking him. Under the impression that it's a two room suite they all go, however... it's just one room. Caroline and Max meet a large, hairy, gay couple in the sauna that they nickname "gay bears." Andy confides in Max that it's been a while since he and Caroline...you know, and asks if she would give Caroline and him some alone time for his birthday. Max agrees and tries to go next door to the "gay bears" suite and drops a hint to Caroline about the birthday she had forgotten. Things blow up between Caroline and Andy. She gets upset that he told Max that's its been a while and he is upset that she forgot his birthday and doesn't seem to be making room for him in her life(valid point Andy). Andy decides to go home and Caroline joins Max and the 'gay bears" for a cuddle in their bed.
Andy breaks up with Caroline in the end of the episode. I was sad to see that, I thought they were good for each other. But the show is about Max and Caroline so maybe there isn't enough room for boyfriends. But I do hope that this isn't the last we have seen of Andy the candy store owner.

Mike & Molly "Fish for Breakfast"
In this episode Mike and Molly are still trying to get pregnant and resort to changing their diets. That means lots of fish, no caffeine, no alcohol and no junk food. Well the diet goes about as well as expected with these guys. They're always so all or nothing, if time they learn it's all about moderation! But then if they did that would take about 40% of the comedic material from the show.... This episode was cute, nothing spectacular. The biggest thing that happened was Carl's grandma finally kicked him out of the house. She hit her limit after he brought home a string of overnight lady guests- not a great idea when you live with your grandma. I don't really have a lot more to say on this episode, so until next week...

The Bachelor: Sean Lowe "Week 2"
So I'll be honest last week I was very unimpressed with this season's bachelorettes and that's putting it nicely. They didn't seem very attractive, smart, or successful and then add alcohol and it was one hot mess. Of course, that is actually one of this things that makes this show so entertaining. But you still need someone to root for and last week nobody stood out to me. At first I too was deceived by Tierra and thought she seemed sweet, but after watching previews for the rest of the season she is clearly Courtney 2.0. Poor Sean, hopefully he figures it out sooner than Ben did.
This week was SO MUCH better, I don't know if it was just weeding out some of the girls that made the difference or if I was being extra critical last week but either way I was more impressed this week. I actually have a few girls I like so far, and possibly a favorite which I will reveal later...
So, here's how the dates went down:
1 on 1: "Sarah, are you ready to fall in love today? -Sean"
Sean picked Sarah up in a helicopter and the landed on top of a skyscraper. He then surprised her by telling her that they were going to free fall from the top of the building. And he of course really helped to keep her calm. And it proved if they can handle anything together, you know the usual bachelor stuff. Afterwards they shared a romantic dinner and Sarah shared a story about a time when she was discriminated against for only having one arm. At that time her dad told her at that time that she needed to find a guy that is strong and can help her through tough situations, just like Sean did for her on the date. At the end of the night Sarah received a rose and the two of them shared a romantic kiss.
Favorite Quote:
Sarah: "I want so much more spontaneity and like adventure and its that I just want to find someone that has similar interests and wants to explore with me."
Sean: "Yeah someone a little more adventurous, ok."
Group date: "Kristy, Amanda, Brooke, Leslie M., Daniella, Catherine, Katie, Selma, Diane, Teryn and Tierra lets capture the romance. -Sean."
The girls and Sean did a photo shoot for Harlequin romance novel covers and the deal was whoever had the most chemistry in their photo with Sean would be chosen to be on the over of three novels. Lesley and Sean got a little steamy in their shoot and shared a kiss, but big surprise Kristy and Sean had the sexiest moment and won the contest. The group then hung out around the pool and took turns getting a little one on one time with Sean. Lesley and Sean were really sweet together but it was clear she was nervous and started talking every time he got close to kissing her, which made things pretty awkward. She realized she missed her moment and she stole him back later and got a kiss, which too was a little awkward. Katie decided that The Bachelor wasn't for her and left during the date. Hopefully she will end up finding love...and a hair straightener. Kacie B. got the rose on this date for having the courage to give The Bachelor a second try.
Favorite Quotes:
Tierra: "I'm going on a group date with 12 other girls, and it sucks because I'm not here to meet friends, I'm here to meet Sean." (very original)
Sean to Tierra: "All you guys are so sweet, you know? You may have a dark side, you may have a catty side. You're sweet, I don't believe you have that catty side in you."
1on 1: "Desiree love is priceless. -Sean"
Sean took Desiree to the "Bachelor Art Exhibit" and played a prank on her where a piece of art supposedly valued at over a million dollars would break and she would think it's her fault. Well she was not anywhere near the art piece when it fell over so I don't know how good of a prank it was, but she was a good sport. Afterwards Sean took her back to his place for dinner and a dip in the pool/make out session. And she she did accept the rose. They are really comfortable and cute together. It seems that they have common values and backgrounds and I am rooting for them. Desiree is my favorite! (I also kinda like Kacie B., Lesley and Sarah.)
At the rose ceremony Sean had some time to talk with Lindsay who I actually ended up liking, which is surprising after her drunken wedding dress fiasco last week. And Amanda (who I thought I might like) sucked the life out of the party. I don't know what is wrong with her but she was angry and silent and weird until Sean came in and she lit up... bipolar? I don't know. Strange. Robyn asked Sean his opinion on dating women of different races and pointed out that this season was a little more diverse than usual, which I noticed as well. Sean said he doesn't have a type and that race doesn't matter to him, phew! At the end of the night Diana and Brooke were sent home.
Next week looks like it is going to be drama filled with Tierra falling, or possibly being pushed down the stairs! Can't wait to see what goes down!

How I Met Your Mother: Post-Proposal Confetti
I just recently started watching How I Met Your Mother (and when I say recently I mean about a month and a half ago. And I watched all 8.5 seasons in a matter of about 3 weeks. Yes, I'm a loser) and my love for this show is very well conveyed in Barney's face in the above photo. After having non-stop new episodes of HIMYM to watch, going a few weeks without it seemed like a lifetime. So I have been very anxious for this show to return after its winter break, especially considering the exciting events of the winter finale! I'm sure that you all share in my joy that Robin and Barney are finally getting hitched. Barney's proposal is definitely one of my favorite moments in television ever.
One thing that I really love about this show is how it substitutes ordinary objects for television-inappropriate things to make it more family-friendly (such as "sandwiches" instead of pot) and I loved their new addition to the long-running joke for this week: "confetti" instead of shit. This idea really is so clever because those of us who are a little older understand exactly what they actual mean, but the innocent objects make it so that younger viewers can enjoy the show as well and allows them to reference things that normally wouldn't be network appropriate. I can really appreciate that since my own mother made me stop watching Friends when it became too inappropriate seeing how I was only 12 when the later seasons were on (yes, I watched Friends when I was 12. And even younger than that. Again, I'm a loser cool). Had the show had a clever idea like this, I could have been allowed to continue watching. So kudos to the writers for that one. I loved it. Especially at the end why Lily looks in the window and says "holy confetti!" Brilliant.
But even more than all of the shows clever inside jokes, I love picking apart the little details of the plot to figure out later down the road. And this episode had a great one! Ted gives a whole speech about DJs and bands, in which is is made known that the DJ is a metaphor for himself and the band is a metaphor for Barney. Then, at the end of the episode we find out that the band that was supposed to play at Robin and Barney's wedding fell through. While they do end up getting another band (which has Ted's bride-to-be in it), I think that incident is a metaphor for what will end up happening with the wedding. I think there will end up being some sort of mishap where the wedding almost doesn't happen and then at the last minute it will end up coming together and the wedding will happen. Especially since the show has been giving us the impression that the wedding might not happen ever since we found out who the bride and groom are. But I guess we shall see!
