The Carrie Diaries "Pilot"

I have been excited for The Carries Diaries since the moment I first heard about it. I love Sex and the City (The TV series, not so much the movies). And there aren't many CW shows that I don't love, guess I'm a sucker for teen drama.

Anyhow, after all the anticipation I'm pleased to report I was not disappointed. It was believable as a preview to who Carrie Bradshaw was before Sex and the City, yet it stand on it own. One of my favorite things about Carrie is how she is so strong and wise, yet at times vulnerable and flawed She is a woman that is easy to relate to. I could really see those same characteristics in the young Carrie portrayed by AnnaSophia Robb.

I loved how the show takes you back to 1980's NYC. The cars, the clothes, the hair! Carrie's excitement, awe and anticipation of her new place in the big city is fun to see. And now we are getting some insight into what made Carrie Bradshaw the character we all know and love, which I know is obviously the point of the show! From what I saw tonight I think it's going to be great!

Some of my favorite lines (all from Miss Bradshaw, naturally):

"It's always the same dream. I'm in the city, and I belong. Manhattan is mine."

"Love is something we wait for. We imagine our first kiss, our first sex, our first 'I love you', but we never imagine our first heartbreak. Maybe because it's too painful to even imagine. But in a way the pain of love is what truly changes us."

"Finding my voice wasn't gonna be easy, but for the first time in a long time, I thought it might be fun."
